In Columbus, the best-known bakeries and bagel shops have lines on weekend mornings, so arrive early or order ahead where the shop offers it. Across Ohio, immigrant bakeries add Mexican pan dulce, Vietnamese banh mi bread, Chinese buns, Middle Eastern sweets and European rye to the mix, and many gluten-free and vegan bakeries have opened in larger cities. Check the listing for hours, whether the shop accepts custom cake orders and its Google rating before you go, and call about allergens, since small kitchens often share equipment. Day-old bread and end-of-day discounts are common if you ask.

Weβve been loyal Dan The Baker customers at their brick and mortar well before their deserved national recognitions. Weβve always been so proud of their quality and outstanding customer service that it is our absolute go-to whenever out of town friends visit. Unfortunately, this morningβs experience was incredibly disappointing. Mixed up charges and drink orders that werenβt corrected until we brought it to their attention, during a relatively calm time compared to how busy they can be. Growing reputation and demand means expanding the crew which means more variability but this should not come at the detriment of quality and/or service. Food industry at the end of the day is built on trust. I hope this is a blip in the timeline. Still one of the best matchaβs in the area since itβs from Kettl (iykyk).

Hands down, Dan the Baker is worth the price tag. The quality of the ingredients comes through in every bite, and the pastries are exceptional. The drinks are just as impressive, making the whole experience feel thoughtfully crafted from start to finish. Itβs easy to see why people rave about this place. As someone who moved from New York, itβs the closest thing Iβve found in Columbus to the kind of high-quality pastry and bakery standards youβd expect from some of the best spots in larger food cities. Definitely a place Iβll keep coming back to.

Dan the Baker is absolutely worth the trip. Made the drive up to Grandview this morning and was blown away. The steak sandwich was outstanding, but the real surprise was the bacon and egg Danish. Perfectly baked, packed with flavor, and honestly one of the best breakfast pastries Iβve had in a long time. The bakery itself has a great atmosphere, and you can tell a lot of care goes into everything they make. As I was leaving, I even noticed they carry soursop juice, which was a pleasant surprise and gives me another reason to come back. Itβs not exactly around the corner for me, but itβs one of those places thatβs worth going out of your way for. If youβre looking for quality pastries, breakfast items, and great baked goods, Dan the Baker is definitely a must-visit. Highly recommend.

Finally made it to this place! Yes Dan has amazing croissant!!! The right crispness, flakiness and tenderness at the same time. I also ordered the banana crΓ¨me cruffin which is ππ , and cardamom knots. The price? Not a fan π Crew were all great yesterday, friendly and courteous.

Probably the most expensive pastry I've been glad to pay for. Dan apparently has been battling the "expensive" tag since his Sourdough in '09 was $6 each, according to the reddit post. Those "in the know" are aware this is the greatest critique, that the pastries are overpriced. Crossiants are $12, and his famous Panettone is over $80 a loaf. My spirit of adventure, and lack of proper financial wellness when it comes to food brought me here on a calm, cold Sunday morning. A collection of locals, known by name, were greeted right at 8 AM opening time. The place smells great, and the display case is stunning. I wanted to get a number of items to try, and the gentleman at the counter helped me pick. I asked for a quarter loaf of Pistachio Panettone, and I was given a surprise instead (your kindness, will never be forgotten). As an aside, they have a sample of their panettones on the counter as you get closer. After taking my loot home to my group of 7, we all chippered away happily and gorged on hacked pieces of crossiant, cronut, cookie, and cake. No one disliked anything, it was all great. My favorite was the cardamom roll, outside the Panettone which really is something specia
